A. Lau, Ph.D. Dr.
Lau is a Research Scientist and Director, BC Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
Unit with BC Mental Health and Addiction Services, an agency of the Provincial
Health Services Authority. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor in
the Department of Psychiatry and a Founding Fellow of the Institute of
Mental Health, University of British Columbia and a Founding Fellow of
the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. His areas of interest include individual
and group Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for mood and anxiety disorders;
group Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy for the prevention of depressive
relapse; investigating the mechanisms underlying the efficacy of mindfulness-based
treatments; and evaluation of psychotherapy dissemination methods. He
is an active supervisor and workshop leader having trained mental health
professionals across Canada and in the United States.
