3rd annual Psychotherapy Research Luncheon

Which therapy works best for whom, and why? This paraphrase of the famous series of questions posed by Gordon Paul in 1967 is one that is familiar to all psychotherapist. Efforts to find answers to these questions have fuelled the growing development of psychotherapy research. Psychotherapy research is intended to help advance understanding of the efficacy and processes of psychological methods of helping people change.

Psychotherapy program members are invited to attend the 3rd annual psychotherapy research luncheon event to learn about the work of two internationally renowned psychotherapy researchers from the Greater Vancouver area, exchange ideas, and to connect with others who are interested or involved in psychotherapy research.

Nature of Event: Brief presentations from two prominent psychotherapy researchers in Vancouver. There will be opportunities for general discussion.

Presenters: Our two presenters this year will be Dr. Lynn Miller from UBC and Dr. Adam Horvath from Simon Fraser University. Dr. Miller’s presentation will be about “Transporting Evidence-Based Treatments to School Settings.” Dr. Horvath’s presentation will be about “Research on the Therapeutic Relationship: Conceptual and Methodological Challenges.”
